My family is always on an adventure

So for those of you who do not know ,my father ( The Doe), moved to Istanbul, Turkey last Saturday. He will be there for 6 months, returning right after my 28 birthday and will most likely go back after the holiday for 3+ years. My mother is not moving, she just doesn't want to be away from her kids.

My dad has always travelled. When I was in high school he lived in Oregon and California while my mother, brother, and myself lived in Tucson. In college he lived in Las Vegas. He has always done this, however Brad and I were around while most of it happened...now my mom is all alone. It breaks my heart but she is a strong lady, she is also working and doing some consulting and will be travelling to the Bahama's (maybe the Virgin Islands and Hawaii if all goes as planned.

Brad and I think we are going to go to Turkey for Thanksgiving ( the hilarity of two vegetarians traveling to turkey for Thanksgiving isn't lost on us). We have discussed exploring Istanbul and the surrounding areas our first visit and if we get a chance to visit again going to Greece ( yes Greece, my #1 place) and Italy.

So all in all this is an exciting move. I have talked to my mom every night and she seems to be handling it well.

Please keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers...he is far away after all.

  1. Oh Ash, wow! That is far!!! I have a teacher friend who has parents who do the same thing. Your mom is an incredible person! Once I met her, I understood she was your mom immediately.

Going to Turkey for Thanksgiving is actually one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time!! Did I tell you my parents made a Tofurky last Thanksgiving. It was fun!
