I have seen a few live shows this year (13 in total) but I was completely amazed by Incubus at Red Rocks last night. They have been playing music together for 20 years now and you can tell by how they perform that they still love what they do.
"In my opinion, so much of it is really about what you had in mind when you got into it: was it only that you wanted to be a rockstar and see your name in lights? I never really had those kinds of dreams. I knew I loved music and I knew that when I sang in a certain way it made my chest and my whole stomach tickle and I liked it. It still does that same thing to me; I know I’m doing it right when it makes my core tingle a little bit. I get the same feeling when I’m painting a picture or when I get into that almost hypnotic state of writing – those things are incredible and those are the kinds of things that attract me to creativity." I have videos that I will eventually upload but everyone should go over the Incubushq.com and watched the Red Rocks show from last night. I have seen Incubus 4 times live and each time I have walked away in awe how a band can sound so amazing live. The last time I saw them was in 2003 in Phx and I didn’t particularly love the show. Bryan and I went together and he didn’t really like Incubus and then fuckers started to mosh around me...I left with a band taste in my mouth for Incubus fan. I also wasn’t super keen on how they were sounding and decided to give my incubus-fandom a nap. I fell in love with Incubus when I was 14...that is 14 years ago! I never stopped listening to them, I buy all their CD's I just had to desire to have a reoccurrence of the 2003 concert. I missed their Red Rocks show when I first moved here in 2007 because I didn’t want to spend the money to see them. However they were staying at the hotel next to my apartment and in a drunken state I sat on a curb n downtown Denver with a blanket for two hours waiting for them (honestly Brandon Boyd is the perfect man!). But this year, with the release of "If Not Now, When?" (which I Love) and their first single Adolescence (which I adore) I decided I needed to see them live again, even if I had to fly somewhere. LUCKILY they love Red Rocks as much as I do ( they have a live DVD called "Alive At Red Rocks from a 2003 show).Last night was the most perfect night: the weather was amazing, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) opened, the moon was beautiful, I loved all the songs they played (though I would have liked a few more- Warning, Echo, Certain Shade, Anti-Gravity)...I truly loved last nights show and I haven’t been blown away at a live show in awhile.
Also- Brandon Boyd makes 35 look amazing (though I was slightly disappointed he didn’t take his shirt off last night)
Here is an amazing qoute on what B.B. would do if he met Britney Spears
- circa 1997-
"She is a girl so I wouldn’t slap her. I would lock her in a room full of spiders and let her think about what she’s doing to the youth of America."
Awh!! I love the dedication you have! Would have sat next to you on that curb for support! Glad to hear they still got it. I can see into the future, one day you shall be Ashley Boyd! ;)
