These are things I know for sure

I have been burning my candle at both ends, I have had family issues, and I am just personally exhausted.

To bring myself down to earth I am going to say things I know to be true-

4.) I love my gay friends; Joe, Dustin, David, Briceson, and Andy...I believe they should be able to get married and have babies and have all rights the straighty's have.
5.) I also believe nobody is completely straight or completely gay...there is a HUGE gray area.
6.) I hate judgemental people
7.) I get tired of putting all the efforts in friendship and will give up eventually
8.) I don't eat meat because I like animals.
9.) I am in love with one of my friends.
10.) I am deeply unhappy in my job
11.) I love to travel
12.) I almost lost my mom a few weeks ago and it has completely rocked my world and changed my life.
13.) I am in a rut and emotionally damaged
14.) All my friends are married-- it sucks
15.) I think I am dating a guy who I met at the hospital-- however he went to Arizona State-- WTF!
16.) I miss Arizona winters and sunsets
17.) I have a shopping problem
18.) I would rather spend $ on concerts then put it in savings
19.) I wish I had money in savings
20.) I want to loose 15 lbs
21.) I am afraid of saggy boobs and wrinkles
22.) For everything I buy I get ride of something
23.) My friends from college will be my friends forever
24.) I wish my dad was around, I think it hurts my moms heart even more
25.) I have only washed my hair once this week.
26.) I just repainted my apt and made it more "grown up"
27.) I am giving up cheese for lent
28.) My brother is fan-frickin-tastic
29.) My next tattoo will represent my mom
30.) I would like to sleep in tomorrow

These the the things I know for sure...these will keep me grounded until my feet are firmly planted back in this world.

“The jump is so frightening between where I am and where I want to be...because of all I may become I will close my eyes and leap!”

Today is my 28th birthday. My metabolism is slowing down, I have fine lines, and I get body aches for no reason. I am closer to 30 than 20. I am 28 today. I entered my late 20’s wanting to make a difference. Well…28 is the year I actually make a difference. I want to impact lives and change the world. I want see the transformation and witness miracles. I am 28 today. I want to attempt to do the things I always say I want to do; if I don’t try I will regret it later. I want more from life; I want more from myself. I need to push my limits and prove to myself how strong I really am. I am 28 today. I want to wake up with a purpose and know that the work I do will impact someone. I want to remember how lucky and blessed I am daily. I want to breathe easy and remember life is short so enjoy it. I am 28 today. I want to live healthy and live up to my potential. I want to be happy and laugh until I cry. I want to remain forever young and dance in my apartment even if people are looking. I am 28 today. I want to make my family proud and make myself proud. I want to grow daily and know that there is always room for improvement. I want to fight the good fight for causes I believe in and realize there is ALWAYS hope. I am 28 today. I want to explore and not be afraid of adventure. I want to look back and say “I did the best I could and I tried my hardest.” I want to make people smile, laugh, and improve lives. I want to see the world with child like wonder and realize there is so much more for me to see/do/learn. I am 28 today.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

28 Things most people know about me:
1.) I have diagnosed insomnia.
2.) I can’t sleep without “white” noise- aka: sound machine or fan.
3.) My Dad lives in Istanbul, Turkey.
4.) My favorite colors are red and black. This is probably because ever good sports team I ever played on was red/black.
5.) I think all girls should be athletic- even better…volleyball players or runners.
6.) I always wear a ring my mom gave me, a tiffany’s necklace, an EF bracelet, and a few string bracelets.
7.) I have freakishly small feet anywhere between an 7 ( vans)- to an 8 ( high heels).
8.) I don’t like shopping at stores in the mall…they aren’t unique enough.
9.) My car’s name is Jezebel.
10.) I get very bad hangovers now, so much so that I really don’t drink anymore.
11.) I have a trip planned every month from Jan-July in 2012.
12.) I go to the gym and run as much as I can. I just started doing hot yoga again ( I used to do it with Bryan in college)
13.) I have two cats- Teejay andToby
14.) I hate my full time job.
15.) I am a vegetarian because I think the process of killing animals/how they are raised/what they are fed is fucking horrible.
16.) I curse A LOT
17.) I would move to Boulder, CO.
18.) I am always looking at peoples shoes- they say a lot about a person.
19.) I am in love with my University- We are amazing people, kind, smart, and our sports programs are pretty bad ass. It helps that I met two of my best friends there as well. Plus out mascot has a girlfriend…SPLENDID.
20.) I attend a lot of concert. However I am going to try to see less of the same band and more of new bands.
21.) My mom is one of my best friends and I look up to my brother.
22.) I smoke when I drink sometimes and I hate myself the next day for doing it. I also smoke if I am nervous---gross gross habit.
23.) I wash my hair 2 times a week.
24.) Boys, who seem perfect for me, rarely are.
25.) I don’t really like food that much. I ate socially or to run but never just cause.
26.) I read a ridiculous amount. This year I have read some pretty heavy books- Helter Skelter, The Meaning of Matthew, and Columbine.
27.) I forgive and act nice well, but I never forget.
28.) If you are a good person, for good reasons, and truly mean it…we will probably be friends.

“There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.”

28 Things most people don’t know about me:
1.) I have unhealthy fears of : airplanes, bird, squirrels, mayo, revolving doors, fat, and vinegaroons
2.) I rarely cry and when I do it’s “that time of the month” and generally is brought on by books or movies.
3.) I honestly believe I am broken.
4.) I do not want to be in a relationship because I don’t want to be hurt again.
5.) I have acid like (I have never done acid so I am just guessing this is what it’s like) flash backs of things I have done in my past when I run…It trips me out.
6.) I am enamored with a guy who I can never have ( plus I am sure if I could have him I wouldn’t be enamored), but find to be phenomenal.
7.) I get annoyed with people who talk on their cell phones at the gym, we are here to work out…if you can talk you aren’t working hard enough.
8.) I am Catholic- yet I am not practicing because I priest was not friendly in confessional a little over a year ago. I have some MAJOR points of contention with Catholic church, so like any good relationship we agree to disagree.
9.) I found the love of my life about 7 years ago and I haven’t looked back a day since. His name is Dustin and I honestly don’t think I could survive without him.
10.) Every year I start a new notebook where I keep quotes, news, pictures, lyrics, sayings, and thoughts.
11.) I have a blood clotting disorder that is fairly serious. Congenital protein S deficiency is a lack of proteins S in the fluid part of the blood. The proteins are natural substances that help prevent blood clots. Protein S deficiency occurs in about 1 in 20,000 people. So every time I bruise or have any trauma caused to my body, everyone (including myself) freaks out.
12.) My non-profit work saved me from a very dark downward spiral.
13.) I judge people on how they treat people and the good they do.
14.) I get mad at myself when I talk shit about people.
15.) I really want my Masters but am terrified of standardized testing, AKA the GRE
16.) People who have amazing vocabularies impress me, also people who read books on a regular basis.
17.) I still consider Tucson my home though no Rable actually lives there anymore. Very odd going “home” and not having a house.
18.) I secretly love video games- Mario Brothers, Sonic, Mortal Combat, Harry Potter, Frogger, & Tetris.
19.) I think any girl between the age of 14- 35 should only wear thong underwear ( chonis) out in public. Visible lines on your butt are not cute; this is the 21st century ladies…get it together.
20.) I am amazingly ok with being alone…which many people find weird. I find it weird when people can’t be alone or single....if you can’t make yourself happy, nobody can.
21.) I would like to move a few more time in my life and maybe live abroad and do some volunteer work.
22.) I own way to much shit- hair products, makeup, shoes, jeans, jackets, socks, bikinis, pretty much any clothing. I have been getting rid of a bunch of shit but I need to stop buying and start living minimally.
23.) I do not believe there is one person for everyone, I do not believe in soul mate. Chances are there is ALWAYS someone better out there for you than the person you end up with.
24.) Some of my favorite people, favorite friends, just favorite…I have met via Calling All Crows. This is mainly because these people are in it for the service, for the volunteering, to create change in the world and not so much about the music. Trust me; people know if you are in it for the music.
25.) During a recent snow storm my friend Ben was driving with me and I made him pray the Hail Mary & Our Father with me…I fell in love with Ben a little bit that night.
26.) I am in love with non-profit work. It is what I want to do with my life; I want my masters in it.
27.) I am going to Scotland, England, and France next March.
28.) Turning 28 isn’t scaring me as much as I thought it would…maybe because I skipped 4 times at work today and have no desire to be a “grown-up.”

BUY Music

Ok this isn’t the music post I have been working on but it just popped into my head and I decided a short blog about it was needed.

BUY music, don’t steal it...it's just not cool. I know music cost $, and some of you don’t have a ton to spend...and yet an album came out that you REALLY want. I know it’s hard, I live and breathe music, but if you can’t afford to support a band then maybe you need wait till you have money to buy the disc.

With Amazon Music now being compatible with iTunes music is cheaper than ever couple that with Spotify and you should NEVER steal music. Spotify is free unless you want to download, then $10.00 a month gets you unlimited download and you can sync the songs to your iPod...NO REASON TO STEAL!

Most of the must I like is up and coming indie bands---the really do need the money. Some of the members were in HUGE bands at one point, but other members are still struggling to make it.

SO next time you think of going to "limewire" ( or whatever you kids are using these days) remember, $10.00 unlimited downloads....pretty fricking sweet.
